Partner in closing Alaska's dermatology gap

AURORA is building rural specialty access as clinical infrastructure, and we welcome funders, foundations, health systems, and tribal partners who share that goal.

Why it matters

Why rural dermatology access matters

Across rural and remote Alaska, systemic immune-mediated skin diseases go undiagnosed and undertreated for years. The nearest dermatologist can be hundreds of miles and several flights away. AURORA closes that distance by training local sites and connecting them to dermatology hubs, so patients can reach specialty care without leaving their community whenever clinically appropriate.

What AURORA supports

Five fronts of impact

Access

Bringing specialty dermatology to communities that have gone without it

Workforce

Training rural clinicians and care teams in recognition, documentation, and follow-up

Technology

A teledermatology pathway built for the realities of rural connectivity

Chronic disease management

Structured, longitudinal care for systemic immune-mediated disease

Sustainability

Designed to operate on reimbursement, not on therapy revenue or sponsor influence

Where we are headed

Building and growing the network

AURORA is actively building: standing up the network, developing training and tools, and recruiting founding spoke sites across rural Alaska. As sites come online, we are growing toward measurable access and faster specialty review.

Growth goal
5 to 8 - Founding spoke sites
Growth goal
75 to 125 - Clinicians and care-team members trained
Growth goal
150 to 250 - Teledermatology consults
Growth goal
Under 21 days - Median referral-to-specialist review

Independence and privacy

A firewalled, non-promotional model

AURORA Core is clinical infrastructure. The education layer is funded and governed separately. Sponsors never fund clinical operations, never influence clinical decisions, and never receive patient-level data.

Educational funding, where it exists, supports only non-promotional, product-neutral disease-state education. No product names, no sponsor logos, and no prescribing influence appear on the clinical side of AURORA. Data governance follows strong privacy practices, including respect for tribal data sovereignty, and any patient information stays within appropriate clinical and privacy-compliant channels.
